Trekking & bike tour!

This course combines trekking around the ascetic paths and nature trails of Rokugo Manzan in Bungotakada, the home of gods and Buddhas, with cycling along unpaved roads with plenty of ups and downs that make the most of the topography of the Kunisaki Peninsula.
After trekking up to Takayama-ji Temple, which is about 450 meters above sea level and enjoying the view of the sky, you can cycle downhill from Takayama-ji Temple. By interacting with the local people at the stops, you can experience the unique culture and stories of the area.
Enjoy trekking and cycling around Tasome, a town where gods, Buddhas, and people connect.

◆In rainy weather, you may need to dismount and push your bicycle on slippery surfaces.

◆This tour will proceed rain or shine.

・The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine, but may be cancelled if a warning is issued or there is heavy rain or thunderstorm. Thank you for your understanding.
・Please take measures to protect yourself from the cold and rain according to the climate.

◆Regarding cancellation of the event・In the event of storms such as typhoons and thunderstorms, or natural disasters such as earthquakes, the event will be cancelled. The decision on whether the event will go ahead will be made at 10am two days before the event. We will contact you via the official website and email.
・If the event is cancelled, we will contact you later to ask for your bank details and refund your participation fee within the same month.

◆8:30 Meet at Fukiji Temple No. 2 Parking Lot

◆8:45 The tour departs from Fukiji Temple, the oldest wooden building in Kyushu.
The first half of the tour is trekking, and you will walk part of the T-2 course of the "Kunisaki Peninsula Mine Path Long Trail", which goes around the training paths and nature trails that were once walked by the ascetic monks of the Kunisaki Peninsula Mountain Buddhism. On the way, you will visit Shichida Kannon and Iwawaki Temple, enter the Nishiei Mountain Trail, and head for Takao-san Temple at an altitude of about 450m.

◆12:30 Arrive at Takaosan-ji Temple, located at the 8th station of Mount Nishiei . Enjoy the skyline view from Takaosan-ji Temple, once known as the phantom temple, and have a trail lunch made with plenty of local ingredients. After filling your stomach, pray for safety on the rest of your cycling journey at the main hall of Takaosan-ji Temple .

◆13:30 The second half of the tour is cycling, a downhill descent on an unpaved road from Takayama-ji Temple, about 450 meters above sea level. Cycling down an unpaved road is thrilling and gives you a sense of exhilaration that you can't experience anywhere else. On the way, you will stop by Utsugi Toge Pond, which gives a sense of the agricultural history of Tasomeso, and Oku Atago Shrine, which has a mysterious atmosphere, and the goal of the trip is Hotaru no Yakata, located in the tranquil rural landscape.
